About

Interpunct-Press is a letterpress print shop located in the West Central neighborhood in Spokane, Washington.  Spokane isn't really on the way to anywhere, but it's a really happening small city that we are kinda trying to keep a secret so that everyone doesn't move here too quickly.

I started this print shop after falling head over heels in love withe letterpress printmaking while working at the world famous Hatch Show Print in Nashville, Tennessee.  I'm from the Music City, but can't sing or play any instruments, so show posters seemed like the perfect way to be a fan.   Hatch Show Print could make anyone fall in love with its sesquentennial charm, the dusty type, the lingering smell of ink, the gentle clank of a press as it rolls out every poster, one at a time, over and over, and over.  After the year, the splinters and all of the ink stains, I realized that I could never do anything else with as much passion.

Roads were wandered and times were had, I came to Spokane to stay and knew that I needed to build a shop.  Through a friend of friend, I found a man, Gale Mueller, a few miles away who spent 50 years building Millstone Press in his basement.  Gale had beautifully maintained presses and an unshared penchant for Gaudy.  I had found my white whale.  He was too old to carry on his work and handed off the torch to me.  I converted our garage into Interpunct-Press and after calling in every favor from all of my strongest friends, many trucks, dollies, forklifts, electricians, blood, sweat, beer, and pizza, it is done.

Now I offer letterpress services ranging from show posters, to business cards, to branding, to wedding invites, to pretty much anything you can imagine.  All hand typeset, carved and letterpress printed, one at a time.  All I can say is that I have 26 letters, two hands, and (I can only hope) plenty of time to carry on this beautiful craft.
